Bengkalis Regency
Bengkalis Regency is a regency of Indonesia in the Riau province. The regency, which comprises the whole Bengkalis island in the Strait of Malacca, has been established since 1956. The regency is divided into 13 subdistricts (or kecamatan) and 24 villages (or kelurahan).
Bengkalis Regency produces natural resources, particularly petroleum, rubber, and coconut.
Geography
Bengkalis Regency comprises the whole Bengkalis island which is located in the Straits of Malacca. The Bengkalis Strait separates island with Sumatra as well as Padang Island and Tebing Tinggi Island. Bengkalis is one of regency in Riau province. The area covers of eastern coastal area of Sumatra island and archipelago area. It covers 11.481, 77 Km2 and has borders: It borders on Malacca straits to the North. It border on Siak Regency and Kepulauan Meranti Regency to the South. It border on Dumai municipality, Rokan Hilir Regency and Rokan Hulu Regency to the West. It border on Kepulauan Meranti Regency to the East.
